An Update Long Due...
Saturday, September 6, 2008

Hell-lo peeps!

Really sorry about the inactivity...Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I'm like always tired these days and blogging would have totally killed me, so yeah, no updates...Haha...I'll try to keep this as short as possible as I actually have a lot to tell...

Well, slightly more than two weeks ago - August 19! - we had the photo session at college for those of us who did well in the exams...I had taken my camera along to take pictures with friends as I thought some of us may not see each other again after that but guess what? I had forgotten to place the battery back into the camera after charging it! Oh damn! That was just so stupid...Haha...

Anyway, we - Ken, Fui Wei, Wai Li, Natalie, Esther and I! - headed over to Mid Valley after that...Luckily I drove to college on that day as Ken, who is usually the person who drives us around, didn't drive on that day and if I hadn't drove either, we may have had transport issues, unless Esther didn't mind us all crashing in her car...Haha...Shing Lung tagged along as he needed a lift to Mid Valley as he was working there...Upon reaching Mid Valley, we all headed off to do what Wai Li had planned...Jan was leaving that same day to UK and Esther was - at that time, as she has already "left" now! - gonna leave soon as well, so Wai Li wanted to buy something for both them to remember us by...At the same time, it was Jean's birthday, and Fui Wei's birthday was coming up as well...So we decided to celebrate the birthdays as well...To keep the plans a secret from everyone else, Wai Li only told me the full details...Upon reaching Mid Valley, Esther and Natalie headed off to get a cake, whilst Ken, Fui Wei, Wai Li and I went around trying to find something to buy for Jan...Meanwhile, Jean and Jan had already arrived at Mid Valley earlier and were hunting for something that they could get for Esther...So that way Wai Li and I made sure that not everyone knew what everyone else was doing, so that the surprises stayed as surprises...Haha...

Ultimately, we had our lunch at "Sushi Zianmai" at "The Gardens", and then out came the cake, and the gifts...The four of us had gotten Jan a glass chess piece set, whereas Jean and Jan bought two Parker pens for Esther...Natalie had to leave the "festivities" earlier as Wai Li had forgotten to inform her about the plan so Natalie had already made plans with her friends...Sorry Natalie! Haha...

And yeah, to those who don't know it already, I'm no longer working at Baskin Robbins! Hey, don't get me wrong - it certainly wasn't because we couldn't handle the job...They were paying us so little for the work we put in but we could deal with it nevertheless...But what got Hein Yew and I pissed was the fact someone was stealing money from the cashing machine and since we don't have a "one cashier per shift" system, everyone uses the machine and thus nobody knows who is the one who actually takes the money...Yes, "takes", as in, it happens almost daily, not something that happened once...And whilst the manager and assistant manager tried to cover up with their own cash I think, things reached a point where even they couldn't deal with it any longer so they decided to cut all our salaries...Already the pay is so low, but when you cut the lost money from our salaries, its like we're paying to work there! So yeah, better to leave than just keep losing money...

But we did go back to work on August 30 and 31 as those two days, including August 29, were the days with the 31% discount on handpacked ice-cream so plenty of customers were expected...Since the outlet was a little low on workers, the manager asked us to help out and we agreed...Besides, it was triple pay on August 31...Haha...

After quitting our jobs at Baskin Robbins, Hein Yew and I decided to work at this communications company dealing with telemarketing...We got to know about the place from Jean and the pay was more than twice higher than the pay that we got at Baskin Robbins...However, we got pretty upset with the company as on the first day that we were there, they told us that they haven't received some database from their clients so there wasn't any work for us to do, so we had to leave...That was on Wednesday...Hein Yew and I headed over to Petaling Street after that as he wanted to buy some stuff and then we had our lunch there before heading back home, feeling slightly pissed as the day was wasted just like that...They told us to come back on Friday, and we did...But guess what? The same bloody thing happened again! It was really pissing off - they had our contacts, couldn't they like call us up earlier and inform us?

That Friday, we decided to watch movies at Mid Valley and ask Esther to come over as she was "leaving" the next weekend and Hein Yew especially, wanted to see her before that...So we watched "Death Race" whilst waiting for Esther, and then watched "You Don't Mess With The Zohan" with Esther...

Don't wanna say much about the movies as most of you have probably watched both by now...But well, I suppose I could say a thing or two...Both were good! I haven't said that in a long while...Haha...Most of the movies this year have been bad, well, at least in my opinion, but I just can't seem to find anything to whine about both these movies..."Death Race" was pretty good and although Hennessey could have been killed in a more dramatic fashion - it was pretty obvious the bomb was in that box! - she still got what she deserved and thats good enough...It was hilarious the way she said "I always win in the end, Mr. Ulrich" and then when she lifts the cover of the box, the bom goes off! "Zohan" was really hilarious and the way the movie kept emphasizing Adam Sandler's "little buddy" was really funny...Haha...Though it was a little weird and slightly disgusting the way he croons over old ladies - and gives them all some really "personal" attention after he styles their hair! - it was enjoyable none the less - at least it is something that's different from most movies out there...

That's all for now! I'll continue some other stuff in the next update!

Adios!

its not what you think.
