Got my results a few days back - and yeah, got what I wanted! Got four flats! 'A's in all four subjects - Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics! When I was checking the results online on Thursday night, when the page with the results loaded, I didn't immediately see my grade for Physics as it was at the bottom of the page and I had to scroll down to view the grade...But knowing I may have done badly in Physics since it was my weakest subject, I was hesitating for almost five minutes before finally scrolling down to view my results! Haha...And for a moment when I saw what it was, I just sat there stunned before going off to shout out my results to my mum and dad...Haha...
Boy, I was so happy! Finally, something went exactly the way I wanted it to...Well, not exactly, but my hard work definitely paid off...But that wasn't what my mum said...When I told her about my results, she went on and on about how she had gone to over a dozen temples praying for my good results and so on...Haha...And all my dad said initially was, "4 only? But you sat for so many papers? A year and a half and you only got FOUR?" Haha...He's always so busy with his work that he barely knows about A Levels and how it works...
I was very surprised with some of my marks...I had gotten a shocking 68/100 for Biology 4 in the January 2008 exams so I re-sat the paper in the June 2008 exams, and I felt the paper was way harder than the January paper - but shockingly, I got 100/100! And then I got another 100/100 for Biology 5! And I ALMOST got full marks for Biology 6 as well but fell short by two marks - got 98/100 instead...Honestly, that was so unexpected...That means I got full marks for Biology 2, 4 and 5, whilst obtaining a near full marks for Biology 6!
Got 'A's for both Chemistry 5 and 6 as well...Got 99/100 for Core Mathematics 4 and 92/100 for Statistics 2...Strangely, that's the exact marks I obtained for Statistics 1...Haha...
I practically sat for the entire Physics syllabus in the June 2008 exams...Having obtained unsatisfactory grades in the January 2008 exams for Physics 1, 2 and 4, I re-sat all three units, and also did Physics 5 and 6...And most satisfyingly, I got 'A's for Physics 1, 2 and 4, even going so far as to obtain 90/90 for Physics 2, but I didn't do so well for Physics 5 and 6, which was totally expected, as those were pretty hard units...Nevertheless, my overall marks for Physics was high enough to give me an overall grade of 'A'...
So that brings my total units with full marks to 5! On the whole, I'm quite happy with my results but am only disappointed slightly that I wasn't able to reach my target for Physics...My target was to obtain a 90% and above average for all four subjects, and although I did obtain that for the other three subjects, I failed to do so for Physics...But it's alright, at least it still is an 'A'...
Anyway, before collecting my results on Friday afternoon, met up with Ken Lee and Andrew in the morning...Had our breakfast at Ali Maju - all three of us ordered the "explosive" Mamak delicacy - "roti bom"! Haha...And when we wanted to pay up, Andrew snatched both bills from Ken Lee and I and paid for them...Haha...Thanks, Andrew! And then we headed over to the DSA and played table tennis for almost an hour before switching to foosball and then a game of pool...And out of the blue, Chris came and in a matter of minutes, he had managed to get us to agree to a game with him against the three of us, with Chris playing with his left hand! He was indeed a formidable opponent and defeated us! Damn! I actually made it easy for him to score the final ball! Haha...After that we went back to playing table tennis and played foosball again, before finally heading to the Main Block to collect our results...
After collecting our results, I headed over to Mid Valley with Ken, Fui Wei and Wai Li and had dim sum at this Chinese restaurant...Then Fui Wei treated us all to Gloria Jeans coffee! Thanks Fui Wei! Though I still prefer Starbucks - Gloria Jean's coffee seem a little too dilute...
Anyway, just wanted to thank all those people who made my results possible, especially to my lecturers, particularly Ms. Jaslinder - hope you're having a great time in Africa! - and Ms. Kana, and to my fellow classmates - all of you have my deepest gratitude! And to those of you who did well - congratulations! To those of you who did not do so well, don't be too sad as the journey doesn't end here...I know how it feels like as I didn't do too well for my SPM and that practically destroyed any chance I had for a scholarship to study medicine so yeah, I know all too well how it feels like...But you gotta pick up yourselves and just do better in the future, OK? And speaking from personal experience, never get overconfident - trust me, it can destroy you! Good luck to all you guys and gals in all your future undertakings! And no matter how far apart we go in this parting of ways, do keep in touch!
