Hey peeps!
Your regular blogger here - though not so regular these days! - just started working last Monday - which explains the irregularity in updates! Yeah, I just come home so tired that I'm just too lazy to update - and the fact that I'm updating now shows just how much I'm forcing myself to do it so pay attention! Haha...
But more on my job later...Just feel like blogging about something else first...
About a week or so ago, I got my letter from Russian Resources - the agency that's handling my university application! - and if everything goes on as planned and I don't screw up my A Levels - of which the results will be out in a fortnight! - I would be departing for the historical state of Nizhny Novgorod on September 24, 2008...Well, yeah, I've heard that the city is full of historical stuff - not that I'm really that much into history but I guess it makes a fascinating appeal for any first timer nonetheless...
Anyway, my mum managed to obtain the contacts of several students who are studying at the university I'm planning to go to and last Sunday, I went to visit one of them at his house at Bandar Utama...Yes, Andrew, I was probably nearby your place but I didn't want to wear you out by paying you a visit - you know how much you love to tease me right? It would totally wear your down, especially after a hard day's work arranging books at Borders...Haha! Anyway, I'm deviating from my main topic here - so yeah, went to see this guy, who's returning for his second year this year, and he told me some interesting and a few devastating stuff...
Man, I have no idea how I'm gonna survive SIX years with no movies - well, they do have cinemas obviously, but it's all in Russian! - and the "best" part is the internet service - unlike in Malaysia, where we pay for our internet usage based on how long we were using the rubbish connection provided to us, in Russia, despite there being a super fast connection - download speeds can reach up to 450 KB/sec, which is like nine times faster than here! - they charge you based on how much you surf, or download! Damn! And its expensive - apparently, if you download something like 100 MB, you pay RM 20! What the...
There goes my plans of downloading so many of the TV shows and movies I've been dying to get my hands on...And for a whole year, well, at least until I return next year in July, I will miss the premier of most TV shows this fall around September, AND the finales around May next year! That's pure torture - I can't stand not knowing what's happening in Smallville in its eighth season for instance, as Clark and Lex are finally the enemies they were meant to be, and Lana is so outta the picture, and things may get interesting between Clark and Lois, and Justin Hartley returns as a full cast member, and Chloe may even be getting married! And don't get me started on Ghost Whisperer - last season ended on such a "deathly" cliffhanger! And so many other shows too! And I will only be able to watch "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" when I return to Malaysia next year! Of course, as I've said before in one of my earlier updates, David Yates has probably screwed up the movie as he did with the previous one - Potter fans, don't be even more disappointed but Yates apparently gave an interview in which he stated that the numbers of memories that Harry and Dumbledore journey into has been cut down from the six or seven in the books to just a mere two or three in the movie! - but nevertheless, I still wanna watch it and complain about it later! Haha...
There are other stuff too, but it would be too long to write them all here...Anyway, let me talk about my new part-time job...Yup, I'm currently a part-time worker at Baskin Robbins at their Times Square outlet! Haha...OK, I'm making it sound like a big deal - it isn't, really...The pay is seriously lousy but it was the only place that I got a call from after applying at a few places so yeah, I guess it's still better than nothing at all...That's pathetic but yeah, when you've got no choice, you make them...Working there with Hein Yew...Today was just my third day but I've learned some stuff...For example, I was genuinely surprised by how polite and friendly loads of foreigners can be, particularly the English ones, like those from Britain, America or Australia...They would ask you how was your day, if you were fine, and well yeah, they just treat you like you're an old friend - provided of course, that you do the same for them, but nevertheless, I had no idea people could be that friendly...Haha...Of course, this doesn't include a certain number of Arabians...Seriously, they can be a right pain in the butt - "How come you're scooping so little ice cream, eh? No, no, I want you to GIMME MORE...No, no, I don't want this, yes I know I said it earlier, but I don't want it now - you could change it for me, no?"
And imagine them saying all that in that strange unfamiliar accent of theirs...Of course, I'm not saying all of them are like that...Only a minority of Arabians give us problems...But it can be really pissing off!
Anyway, I guess I don't have to say this as I'm sure you people already know but its the 31st of July tomorrow and that means discounted rates at Baskin Robbins! So do hop along and come over and pay Hein Yew and me a visit - and buy ice cream of course! Haha...
That's all folks!
P.S. I just LOVE the song "One Step At A Time" that was sung by Jordin Sparks! Too bad its so short!
